Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa is adults only, set above the cliffs of Conejos Bay on the Oaxacan stretch of Mexico’s Pacific coast, about four kilometres east of the Tangolunda hotel strip and deliberately away from it. Accommodation starts at suites rather than rooms - the Junior Suite Ocean Front runs 503 square feet and the Junior Suite with Hot Tub 550 - and every one has a furnished private balcony or terrace facing the Pacific, the gardens or the infinity pools. Swim Out suites open straight onto the water. The pools sit on terraces above a quiet crescent beach.

Dining is unlimited across five venues - Oceana, Bordeaux, Tamarindo, Sugar Reef and Rendezvous - with 24-hour in-suite dining and a mini-bar refreshed daily. The plan covers every meal, snack and drink and includes top-shelf spirits rather than house brands. Non-motorized water sports, the fitness centre, beachfront yoga, wellness classes and the nightly entertainment are included, along with WiFi. The bay itself is the draw: sheltered, swimmable and quiet, with the nine bays of Huatulco and the Bahias de Huatulco National Park along the same coast.
