Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto sits on Danzante Bay in Baja California Sur, on a stretch of coast where the Sierra de la Giganta drops straight down to the Sea of Cortez. Accommodation runs from Deluxe Suites through one, two and three bedroom suites and penthouses, most with a kitchenette and a private balcony facing either the water or the mountains behind. The centrepiece is a set of connected free-form pools with swim-up seating, a beach bar out on the sand and loungers looking across the bay. A full-service spa, a fitness centre and a kids’ club fill out the rest of the resort.

Dining on the all-inclusive plan runs across The Market and Casa Mia, with the Clubhouse, a pool bar and a beach bar between them. Danzante is the fine-dining room and carries a per-person surcharge even for all-inclusive guests. Paddle boards and kayaks are part of the plan, and the water in front of the resort is Loreto Bay National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where dolphins and whales move between the islands of Danzante and Carmen. TPC Danzante Bay, the only TPC golf course in Mexico, runs up into the hills behind the resort on a separate green fee.
